A reMEMBERable Experience! Volume Number 35 by Kevin McCann President, CompuSol
As you are probably by now aware, Fort Worth, Texas was recently hit by a devastating tornado. And as luck would have it, our CompuSol/reMEMBER headquarters was right in its path. My business partner, Christie Thornton, and I were in the building when the tornado hit and we both feel very blessed to be alive. By sheer coincidence Christie left the conference room, where we were working at the moment, and upon turning into her office spotted the tornado as it approached our building! Christie yelled in a panicked voice (and with good reason!)…”TORNADO, THERE’S A TORNADO HEADED STRAIGHT FOR US!” We immediately headed for the stairs and made it to the basement right as the tornado hit. While in the basement we could feel the pressure change in the building. There was an eerie light and a huge swirling dust cloud INSIDE the basement, but little or no additional noise. After a short while, some say seconds others minutes, we again felt the pressure change and could tell the tornado had passed. What we did not realize until leaving the building was how close we had been to the tornado. We believe we were not just close, but actually in the eye of the storm. As we exited the basement, went up the parking lot stairs, and turned to look at the building, we were all shocked at the sight. Not a window was left and furniture, computers, papers and general debris were coming out the shattered remains of all the offices in the high rise. Knowing our office was no longer useable we immediately began searching out a new location the day after the tornado. I am happy to report that within a week of the storm we were 90% up and running. Being good computer nerds we had recent back ups of all our reMEMBER software and only lost a couple of days work. The real headache has been rebuilding our new offices, getting new equipment and furniture and settling with the insurance company. (As of this writing I am sitting in a lawn chair stolen from my back yard and a card table borrowed from one of our employees.) Probably the biggest loss we have sustained is the business cards and notes from recent contacts within the Chamber community. Christie and I had traveled to several conferences during February and March and met many wonderful Chamber representatives at each conference. Our company actually uses reMEMBER to track our active and prospective Chamber clients but due to the extensive travel over the last month we had yet to enter the data into reMEMBER. If you had requested a copy of our demo and have not received it please let me know and I will make sure it gets sent. I sincerely apologize for anyone we may have missed and am also sincerely happy just to be here writing this note after our reMEMBERable experience! Have a great day! Kevin K. McCann President CompuSol, Inc. 800.318.7333 Please watch for us at the following conferences: Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, Padres Island, Texas 59th Annual NAMD Conference, Washington, D.C.
